Marge Michelson works at Logent’s logistics center in Vantaa as a Warehouse Associate. She began her career in spare parts logistics five years ago and has since learned a wide range of tasks across different areas of the warehouse.
– My daily duties include opening orders, picking products from storage locations, packing and loading goods, and receiving deliveries. Occasionally, I also take part in inventory checks and help in the automated warehouse packing area.
– My core work is physical, so it’s nice to have some variety by doing more sedentary tasks, like handling returns, where the pace is a bit slower.
Variety Keeps Work Interesting
Marge finds work at the warehouse both diverse and engaging, with each day offering something different.
– I started in spare parts logistics, but after returning from parental leave, I learned a new role. Over time, I have expanded my skills even further. I now handle multiple tasks and move between workstations during the day depending on operational needs.
– Learning new tasks is exciting because it requires mastering processes, tools, and systems. Over the years, I’ve learned to use three different IT systems.
When Marge joined Logent, she also learned to drive forklifts. The counterbalance forklift quickly became her favorite.
– I’ve become familiar with many types of warehouse equipment. Currently, I can operate a high-reach picker, a counterbalance forklift, and a pallet truck. Driving the counterbalance forklift is my favorite—my colleagues know I could drive it all day! I still hope to learn the stacker forklift, which would allow me to take on even more responsibilities within the forklift team.
Training New Colleagues
In addition to learning new tasks, Marge also trains new team members.
– Training is enjoyable and a welcome change from regular duties. I love having the opportunity to guide new colleagues. It’s exciting to share my expertise and show how things are done. I demonstrate a task first and then let the trainee try it themselves. Everyone eventually develops their own style, and I encourage them to share ideas for improving processes.
– Job variety keeps me motivated. I want to keep learning and developing in my role. I’m grateful that there are opportunities to expand my responsibilities, and that the company encourages this.
Flexibility, Team Spirit, and Influence Over Work
At Logent, work runs from morning to evening. Marge appreciates the company’s flexibility, which makes it easier to balance work and family life.
– I was a bit nervous about returning from parental leave, but the transition went smoothly. My changed life situation was taken into account, and I noticed that balancing work with family life worked really well.
Strong team spirit and daily support from colleagues are also highly valued.
– Friendly colleagues and an open atmosphere are key to thriving at work. In our team, it’s easy to ask for help and offer help when someone is busy. There’s always a strong network of colleagues around.
Marge values personal growth and improving work methods. At Logent, she appreciates the opportunity to influence her own work.
– I want to find ways to do my job better and more efficiently. There’s not just one way to do things. Here, I can make suggestions, share ideas, and help improve processes. Even small changes have led to better ergonomics and more efficient workflows. Physical work requires good working conditions, and at Logent, improvement suggestions are welcomed by everyone.
– I enjoy problem-solving and tackling challenges. I want to continue developing and advance my career by expanding my skills, for example into supervisory roles. I feel that it is definitely possible at Logent, Marge Michelson concludes.
